In 2007, I watched Super Size Me by Morgan Spurlock. This movie targets the fast food industry. It shows the debilitating effects fast food and improper diet has on American lives. Super Size Me also pointed out disparate spending between fast food industries and counterpart industries representing fruits and vegetables. Sitting on my couch in my air conditioned TV room, I used a remote control to flip channels during commercial breaks. During one commercial break, a scantly clad super model extolled the virtues of drinking milk while wearing little more than a milk moustache. "Got Milk" has been a tremendous advertising coup for "big milk." For several years "GOT MILK?" has been plastered on billboards, TV, magazines, and newspapers across the country. I often wonder whether this campaign has lead to increased sales and increased consumption over colas and other drinks. Now, I'm a fairly healthy guy. Sure, I love an occasional #1 Combo Meal from Burger King. For the most part, though, I'm a healthy eater. As Super Size Me played on TV, I took advantage of a commercial break (no doubt advertising Lean Cuisine or a latest diet pill) to run upstairs for a snack. The crisper contained loads of apples. I grabbed one, washed it briefly under tap water, and ran back down to my comfy couch. Easy to hold and nothing to unwrap, eating apples is fun. If you have three, you can juggle them. When your friend asks you to throw him an apple...you can literally throw him an apple. Everyone loves biting into a crisp apple. The crunch is unmistakable. Super Size Me. Got Milk? A cold, crisp, juicy Apple. The three muddled in my head. In an instant an idea was born. The message is clear. Exercise doing the activities you love and when you need a snack...... HAVE AN APPLE!
